Foggy winter morning in the medieval center of Gouda in the Netherlands. The Waag in Gouda (also called the cheese weighing) is on the Markt, opposite the back of the town hall. De Waag was built after a design by Pieter Post in 1668, after Gouda had been able to lease the Waag's right for fifteen years in 1667 of the Holland Court of Auditors. This lease agreement with the court was then tacitly renewed.
