About ‘The Gathering’ by Rustic life

The Gathering is one of the first photographs from the series exhibited in 2024 in Chelva, Spain. The work presents a still life composed of rural objects in a warm, rustic atmosphere. It seems as though a conversation is taking place between the elements. Some objects are easily recognizable — like an almond or a clove — while others remain abstract and open to interpretation.

Joost Gerritsen’s work stands out for its refined sensitivity to material, light, and composition. But it is not just the technical qualities that make his photography special. His images evoke a deep sense of intimacy and emotion. He manages to stir empathy for lifeless objects, giving the concept of "still life" a renewed meaning.

Living and working in the Spanish countryside, Gerritsen uses materials found in his immediate surroundings. These are familiar objects that he transforms into a silent world full of depth, reflection, and presence.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
