The Furie lying in the port of Maassluis in front of the National Tugboat Museum.

The Furie is a steam driven Dutch seagoing tugboat. The ship was built at the time in 1916 for own account by Gebr. G & H. Bodewes, based in Martenshoek and christened as Bodewes VI. In 1918 the ship was sold to Holmen Bruks & Fabriks AB, a paper mill in Norrköping, Sweden. It was registered under the Swedish flag under the name Holmen III. To prevent it from being attacked as a ship of a neutral country, SVERIGE (Sweden) was painted in large letters on the sides. It was used for towing log rafts across the Baltic Sea.

Many years later, in 1976, the ship was purchased for the AVRO, who wanted to film the book Hollands Glorie by Jan de Hartog for a television series.

After the filming was completed, the ship was sold to Handels Mij. Heise and went to Zaandam to be scrapped, but fortunately it did not come to that.

In 1978 the ship was bought by the Stichting Hollands Glorie, a foundation set up for the preservation of the ship. On 17 February 1978 the ship arrived in Maassluis. In 1980, the restoration of the ship and steam engine installation was crowned by the approval of the boiler by the Stoomwezen, after which the ship could sail independently again. The Furie was officially put into service by Hugo Metsers, who played the lead role of Jan Wandelaar in the television series Hollands Glorie.
