The Emerald Oasis of Yoho by Expedition Columbus

Imagine a place where the world stands still for a moment and nature reveals its purest colours. During our journey through the rugged Canadian Rocky Mountains, we came across this hidden gem: Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park. The name says it all: the water has an almost surreal, vivid turquoise and emerald-green hue. This unique natural phenomenon is caused by very fine glacial silt carried by the meltwater from the surrounding ice fields, which magically reflects the sunlight.

In this piece, you can see the mirror-smooth glacial lake that blends seamlessly into the dense, deep-green coniferous forests. In the background, the imposing, snow-capped peaks of the President Range stand watch.
