What an extraordinary insect this dragonfly is. Thus, their life starts as a larva under water where they stay for months or even up to 5 years. In the process they molt several times and only later it gets its wings to fly.
In general, they feed on small insects, such as mosquitoes, moths and flies, which they catch and eat in flight while hunting for them. They may also eat larger insects, such as butterflies or even their own species.
I tried to capture their fragile appearance with watercolors. The wings unfolded and sitting on a small branch as we can so often see them at the water's edge. Warming themselves in the sun.
I made the painting with watercolors. Real handwork in other words! The original is 30 x 40 cm, but the nice thing about a print is that you can choose any size and material you want.
The painting has been photographed in such a way that the structure of the watercolor paper is still clearly visible. This has the advantage that it looks even more like a real painting, even though it is a print.
Curious about what else I have painted? In my shop I also have paintings of other animals such as a parrot, alpaca, pig and turtle. They can be found in the 'animals' folder.
The colors used are: pink, purple, blue, green, yellow, brown and black.
