A bold explosion of colour and character is what you see in The Colour King. At first glance, the rooster immediately catches the eye with its vibrant, almost surreal colours. But look closer again: the background carries a mysterious, dreamy atmosphere that balances the whole picture. The contrasting shades of purple and brown enhance the cockerel's unique charisma, which stands proudly at the centre of the composition.

Inspiration:
This work was born from a playful urge to colour outside the lines and transform an everyday subject - a rooster from my own garden - into a work of art full of fantasy. I wanted to show that even a familiar image can surprise us if we look at it with a different perspective.

Atmosphere and emotion:
The atmosphere evoked by this work is both energetic and surprising. It evokes a sense of freedom - the freedom to make your own rules, to experiment and to create something as magical as it is idiosyncratic. The work exudes strength and pride, just like the rooster himself.

Technique:
For this work, I used digital layers and colourful brush techniques to create depth and texture. I deliberately chose unconventional colour combinations to give the rooster an almost fairy-tale look. The background is a combination of textures and shades that have been patiently constructed to draw attention to the subject without overpowering it.

Interior:
This work brings life and boldness to any interior. It fits perfectly in a colourful, eclectic environment, but can also offer a striking contrast in a minimalist space. The warm colours and playful character make this a real eye-catcher that gives any room a unique atmosphere.
