About ‘The Church of Our Lady in Bruges’ by Erik Jan Kaper

This Church of Our Lady in Bruges, Belgium, is undoubtedly a much-photographed subject. Bruges is, in any case, a city much frequented by photographers. The photo was taken in front of the Boniface Bridge in the historic centre of Bruges. The church tower is approximately 115 metres high and is one of the tallest brick structures in the world.
The church also serves as a museum and houses world-famous works of art.
What strikes me about the whole scene is the great variety of colours – in the bridge, the church, the green of the tree and the beautiful blue sky with clouds.
When you stand in front of the photo, it’s as if you’re being drawn into it.
