Architecture can be functional. Architecture can be reduced to graphic forms through strict straight lines or perpendiculars. But architecture can also be detached from any claim and inspire through arbitrary forms that are neither subject to function nor to any rules. One could have designed this staircase in a very sober way - but thank God the architect did not.
Even as a mural on one's own four walls, the eye can follow the many curved lines to the common vanishing point, the blue morning sky. The concentration on the complementary colours blue and yellow has a harmonious effect, making the whole picture timeless and suitable for any interior style.
