An iceberg floats silently in the dark, icy waters of the Kongsfjord near Tasiilaq. The upper part is bright white, almost blinding in its purity, while the water offers a glimpse of the underwater world: a blue glow gently fading into the depths. This contrast between above and below, visible and hidden, tells the story of an ancient cycle that continues silently here.
Inevitably, the ice melts away and becomes one with the cold waters of the fjord. Perhaps one day this meltwater will evaporate in warmer places, rising as vapour and mixing with clouds. The clouds will release their load at high altitude, where the snow will once again feed a glacier. Thus begins the circle of water again, a process that stretches over thousands of years and yet is captured here in a single moment.
This image not only demonstrates the power and impermanence of nature, but also invites us to reflect on the beautiful simplicity of these cycles. A view of the iceberg is a view of time - past, present and future, captured in a single fragment of Arctic reality.
