A thatched roof consists of dried reeds and is mainly found in coastal regions. Behind this special roof construction lies a thousand-year-old tradition of craftsmanship that has stood the test of time. Reed is a type of reed that has been used as a roofing material since the Middle Ages. A thatched roof is therefore a roof that is covered with reeds. On the North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts of Germany, roofs are still covered with thatch today. The thatch has a high insulating effect, so that the house is insulated and protected from the weather at the same time.
