Tellaro in the evening light | Ligurian coast, Italy by Kilometer 120 | René Metzinger

Tellaro lies like a little palette of colours directly above the Ligurian Sea. The pastel-coloured houses and the striking Church of San Giorgio provide a warm contrast to the blue of the water and the rocky coastline. Taken in the last light of day, the photograph captures one of Liguria’s most beautiful little coastal villages in a particularly tranquil atmosphere.

It wasn’t just the light that was crucial for this shot. A two-second long exposure blurs the movement of the waves between the rocks, whilst the village and the rugged coastline retain their clear structure. This gives the water a soft, almost flowing effect, creating a deliberate contrast to the massive rocks in the foreground.

What was particularly beautiful that evening was the warm light that once again bathed the rocks and houses of Tellaro, whilst cooler shades of blue and turquoise already dominated the sky above the sea. Such lighting conditions can change within a matter of minutes. It is precisely this brief transition between the warm evening light and the approaching end of the day that defines the mood of this photograph.

As a large-format wall art piece, the motif thrives on the interplay between the warm natural tones and the blue of the Mediterranean. The photograph is particularly well suited to living rooms and dining areas, as well as cafés, Italian restaurants, hotels and holiday homes. Its landscape format makes it ideal for larger wall spaces, such as above a sofa, a sideboard or a long dining set.

For lovers of Italy and the Ligurian coast, this photograph brings the special atmosphere of an evening in Tellaro to your wall: Mediterranean, tranquil and with a touch of longing for the sea.
