On my way to the Amsterdam Water Supply Dunes, I always drive past this beautiful old beech tree. Would the tawny owl be at home? It remains exciting - sometimes he is home but the weather is nothing special. Often he sleeps during the day, as the tawny owl is a nocturnal animal. And sometimes - like here - everything falls into place: the tawny owl is present, he looks down with his beautiful big eyes and the sun is shining through the beech leaves. I have hung this picture on the wall myself and it is just like the Mona Lisa: it seems as if he is always following you.
