Iceland is a beautiful and photogenic destination in both summer and winter. In the summer, the diversity of the landscape is overwhelming and in the winter, the half-frozen waterfalls form a special scene.
I was lucky enough to visit Iceland in both seasons and photograph the Svartifoss waterfall both flowing and frozen (the winter version is also included in the collection).
By Icelandic standards, this waterfall is not very large, but the relief of stones makes it special. The stones are the result of very slowly cooling lava, also known as basalt columns.
