About ‘Sunset serenity’ by Costas Ganasos

The Zaanse Schans is a historic neighbourhood in the municipality of Zaanstad, established in 1963. Old wooden houses, windmills and other buildings from the Zaan region have been relocated here to preserve them. The area is situated in the Kalverpolder on the River Zaan, opposite Zaandijk, and is a listed village due to its distinctive architecture and landscape. Over the years, museums, craft shops and restaurants have been added, turning it into a popular tourist destination attracting millions of visitors annually.

The idea for the Zaanse Schans originated around the time of the Second World War, when people became more aware of the importance of preserving traditional Zaan wooden architecture. After various plans and modifications, the project was approved in 1956. From 1963 onwards, dozens of old buildings were moved to the area and restored. Originally intended as a residential neighbourhood, the growing influx of tourists saw it develop increasingly into a tourist attraction from the 1970s onwards. Today, the Zaanse Schans is a well-known cultural heritage site where history and tourism converge.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
