Mt. Taranaki perfectly reflected in a small lake in the Pouakai tarns. I cannot stress how lucky I was with this shot! It was cloudy all day and right around sunset the clouds began to part to reveal this majestic volcano. Not only that, but it was a particularly windy day which was creating ripples in the lake making it difficult to achieve the mirror effect. The stars aligned, clouds parted, and winds stopped to make this photo happen. Taranaki is still active but hasn't erupted in a few hundred years. Some scientists say it's long overdue and could erupt in the next 50 years! I say this is the most beautiful volcano I have ever seen!
