About "Sunset at Karlu Karlu"

About the artwork

An enchanting sunset at the Devil's Marbles, where the boulders are bathed in a soft pink and purple glow. The evening sky transforms the rugged landscape into an almost surreal scene, with silhouettes of trees and boulders highlighting the mystical atmosphere of the Australian outback.

Marbles in the heart of Australia. 100 km south of Tennat Creek a Village 499 km north of Alice Springs where I lived and worked as a photographer for 12 years.
This is a Dreaming story of the local Aboriginal tribe that wooted into Tenant Creek. There are elnkele rocks I was not allowed to depict that are considered sacred. Sacret Sites.

Kings Canyon (Wattarka) and Ayers Rock (Uluru) Wigglies Waterhole (in Alice Springs) and Karlu Karlu (The Devils Marbles are connected in the dreamtime story of constellation(star cluster) Paleides consisting of 7 stars) and represent the Seven Sisters. Which Riley's book is also about.
At Uluru there are 2 ghost gum trees each tree represents one of the sisters....... Then at Kings Canyon there are 2, via the skyline you get to Wiggleys Waterhole where there is another 1
And at Karlu Karlu, there are 2 again. These seven trees are "sacret trees" sacred trees that stand for The Seven Sisters of the Paleides Dream Time story which is about true Sisterhood.

The Paleides Dreaming story of the Seven Sisters is one of the most widely circulated ancient stories among Aboriginal Australia. The song line for this story spans more than half the width of the continent, from deep in the Central Desert to the west coast. The song line travels through many different language groups and different parts of the story are recognised in different parts of the country.
