I made this photograph at sunset along the riva where moored gondolas rested in a soft band of color. The sky carried long lines and the water held a quiet sheen. I positioned the boats to build a gentle diagonal that leads toward open lagoon.
A slow shutter eased the surface and kept the silhouettes true. Look for a pale trail of light near the far posts, the blue covers that repeat like notes, and a warm window that anchors the edge of the frame. I kept contrast moderate so the print fits a range of interiors.
The feeling I wanted is calm and open. For me this image is about pause and promise, the minutes when evening holds the city with care.
