Sunset Panorama at Dwejra Bay on West Coast of Gozo Island, Malta
The word 'dwejra' means 'a small home' in Maltese. Tradition has it that there used to be a small house in this remote part of the island and locals still come here to enjoy the beautiful sunset. The metaphor for 'home' is also a reference to the almost parallel, vertical rocks, which served as a primitive form of dwelling in prehistoric times.
Also known as the 'Azure Window', this majestic wonder of nature is the result of the geological forces that have shaped the island of Gozo over the millennia.
