Just before sunrise, the sky over the Wadden Sea near Striep turns warm orange-red hues. The first rays of light hit the still water as the horizon slowly brightens and the world seems to awaken. On the wet mudflats, thousands of birds, geese, gulls and waders gather, foraging or resting in the early morning light.
In the foreground, grass stalks gently sway in the wind. Everything is still quiet; only the sound of birds and the distant sloshing of water can be heard.
Terschelling, and especially the area around Striep, is known for its vast salt marshes and pristine tidal landscape. This image captures the magic of a new day: the moment when everything is still possible, and nature slowly unfolds.
An image full of stillness, space and promise - for those who love the start of the day and the subtle power of the Wadden.
