About ‘Sunrise at the Paard van Marken, the Netherlands’ by Henk Meijer Photography

Marken's horse is a lighthouse on the Dutch peninsula of Marken, on the IJsselmeer. It was built in 1839 by J. Valk. Since the beginning of the 18th century there has been a primitive lighthouse on the site; the current lighthouse has been a National Monument since 1970.
