Reynisfjara is a striking black lava-sand beach in Iceland. This is partly why it is also known as Reynisfjara Black Beach. The elongated black beach has some special attractions. Including an impressive wall of basalt blocks and a cave. While a little further on, several stone pillars rise into the sea. A spectacular sunrise, the wind blows the clouds away so the blue sky also appears. Reynisfjara Beach is a dangerous beach, the waves can plunge far out onto the beach all of a sudden and it's soon deep at the shore, signs warn tourists. This beach is located near the village of Vík í Mýrdal, in the municipality of Mýrdalshreppur, the southernmost place in Iceland. It is also the place with the highest rainfall. Its name means something like "bay in the moor valley".
