About ‘Summer Water – Pieterpad’ by Wietske Westra

This work is part of my summer series, inspired by walks along the Pieterpad. In this series, I explore how the landscape changes as summer reaches its peak: the grass becomes fuller, the light softer, and the water begins to reflect the sky.

In this piece, you can see a winding ditch running through an open field. In the water, the sky and the purple clouds are softly reflected amongst the greenery. Tall grasses and small yellow flowers grow along the banks. The horizon, dotted with trees, lies far away, giving the landscape a calm and open feel. I built up this work in multiple layers of chalk. By gently rubbing colours over one another, a light, almost dreamlike atmosphere is created. At the same time, the visible chalk texture gives the work a sense of life and tangibility. For me, this image is about silence and warm summer days when everything seems to move slowly. About walking without haste, whilst the water catches the light and the landscape almost glows with colour.

With its fresh green tones, soft purple accents and tranquil composition, this work brings a light and summery atmosphere to an interior.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
