During the Battle of Arnhem in September 1944, the Eusebius Church suffered severely. A fierce fire eventually caused the church and tower to be largely lost. The impressive Wagner organ that dated from 1769 to 1770 also had to pay for it. Of this instrument, only a registration plate was left. In 1951 the Eusebius Church bought a new monumental organ: the Strumphler organ of the Restored Evangelical Lutheran church in Amsterdam.
