This snapshot captures a spirited part of Rotterdam during a popping storm. From atop a rooftop in the city, you get a view of the action as the skyline and nature clash.
Skyscrapers stand out bravely against the threatening sky and almost seem to bow to the gusting wind. Rain lashes the city like a whitewater raft, and you can almost feel the tension as the elements clash.
It is as if the city and the storm dance a temporary tango - rough and wild, but also somehow in harmony. The movement of the trees and the splashing waves of the river add an extra dimension to this dynamic scene.
In 2009 Roy Poots bought his very first SLR camera, a Canon EOS 450D. After having photographed everything for a while, he realised that he liked landscapes, architecture and (nocturnal) cityscapes the most by far. Since then, he has devoted himself to these subjects.
