About ‘Storm over Vlissingen’ by Sander Poppe

For years, I had dreamed of photographing Vlissingen during an impressive storm, with lightning flashing over the historic centre and harbour. On this evening, that long-cherished wish came true. Threatening clouds piled up over the city as I took my position overlooking Vlissingen's distinctive fortress and harbour. As rain lashed the Dutch coast, a thunderstorm began. My camera was at the ready and I shot dozens of photos in a short time, hoping that just at the right moment lightning would show up.

This photo captures the ultimate moment: a bright lightning bolt illuminates the sky above Vlissingen's atmospheric cityscape. You see the sturdy fortress with its old cannons, the typical harbour with historic ships and colourful gabled houses, and in the background the bustling city centre. Vlissingen's unique character comes together so beautifully with the dynamics of natural forces that make the Dutch coast so special.

This shot is a great example of weather photography in Zeeland, where the unpredictable weather and iconic landscapes combine to create unforgettable images. For any nature lover, photographer or admirer of the coast, a stormy day in Vlissingen is truly a must for experiencing and capturing the power and beauty of Zeeland.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
