"Still life with flowers in black and white : The hydrangea leaf in the light" is a macro photo of a leaf of the hydrangea that is already partly decayed, so you can beautifully see the vein structure of the leaf. If you zoom in on the work, you can clearly see the vein structure at the top two leaves. The leaves are very fragile and thin, which also makes the veins stand out beautifully.
When taking this photo, I chose a shallow depth of field. The further back you look, the blurrier the leaf becomes. This (together with the lighting) creates depth in the work.
The leaf lies on a mirrored surface that does have a structure. This creates an almost painterly reflection rather than a rigid mirror image.
This work is also available in colour: "Still life with flowers in taupe: The hydrangea leaf in the light" with work code: 1390940
This work could, for example, hang beautifully as a wall decoration in the waiting room, bedroom, hallway or just above the couch in the living room! Also beautiful on the wall in a meeting room (business).
