In many cultures they symbolise nobility, dignity and beauty, while in Christian ceremonies they are regularly used to indicate purity, kindness and endurance.  In early spring, the flowers appear before the leaves and the flowers are seen as renewal, as a kind of rebirth of nature.
The flowers are surprising and highly aromatic. The scent comes from the thick waxy petals, which, among other things, exude a citrus-like air, also reminiscent of violets and roses.
Here, a few branches have already been picked to enjoy the 'awakening' of flower and leaf indoors. A still life in a narrow white vase on an old table, with a sober background to show off the beautiful flowers.
