Still life, Jeremiah van Winghe
In imitation of his father Joos, Jeremias van Winghe initially made pen drawings. Then he was apprenticed to the painter Frans Badens in Amsterdam. He stayed in Italy for a few years, before settling in Frankfurt as a portrait painter. In 1616 he married the daughter of a jeweller and became a dealer in precious stones and jewellery. In 1640 he returned to painting. Several portraits, market pieces and still lifes are known by his hand.
