The sticky coral mushroom (Calocera viscosa) is a fungus in the family Dacrymycetaceae. The species lives as a saprophyte on highly decayed stumps and trunks of coniferous trees. The fungal tissue (mycelium) grows in dry coniferous wood, often in the moss-covered stumps of spruce. The mushrooms (fruiting bodies) are formed in the fall.
