Yellowstone National Park is a national park in the United States. It was established on March 1, 1872, making it the oldest national park in the world. It is mostly located in the state of Wyoming and is the heart of the larger Yellowstone ecosystem. It is named after the largest river in the park, the Yellowstone River.
The park is best known for its geothermal springs such as geysers and mud pots, and for its wildlife such as bison, grizzly bears, and wolves. In 1978, UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site.
