About ‘Starling’ by Cees van der Linden

The starling (scientific name: Sturnus vulgaris) is one of the most fascinating and musical birds you can find in your neighbourhood. Although it appears black at first glance, the sun reveals a beautiful palette of iridescent colours such as purple, green and blue, sprinkled with white "pareltjes" in winter.

The flying artist The most impressive thing about the starling is its murmuration. In autumn, they form gigantic swarms that seem to dance through the air like liquid black clouds. This spectacle serves as a defence mechanism against birds of prey and as a social gathering place before they go to sleep.

Key features King of imitation: Starlings are masters at mimicking sounds. They imitate not only other birds, but also environmental sounds such as telephones, alarm clocks or even police sirens's.

Beak: In spring, the starling's beak turns lemon yellow, while in winter it is dark brown or black. Diet: They are true omnivores. In the garden, you often see them running across the lawn in groups, looking for leatherjackets (crane fly larvae) and other insects.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
