Stacked cubes - Three-dimensional colour spaces made of stacked cubes in a dialogue triptych (3 of 3)

by AidasignArt

A multi-layered interplay of colour, form and spatial effect unfolds in this narrow-format series of works. Stacked cubes, painted in a pastose and almost sculptural manner, appear in harmoniously graded colours of the rainbow. The strong materiality of the colour application creates an almost three-dimensional representation that allows the cubes to emerge from the surface and lends them a tangible physicality.

The laterally offset arrangement of the cubes and the deliberate omission of individual elements create small openings through which light subtly penetrates the pictorial space. It is precisely this combination of gaps, layering and sculptural application of colour that creates a spatial depth that points beyond the pure surface - as if the cubes were continuing to build themselves in space.

The series comprises three independent works that can be presented solo or as a contemporary triptych. Their inner choreography follows a precise dramaturgy of light: the first picture leads the viewer's gaze from left to right, while the third reverses this movement. The middle work deliberately breaks this directional logic - it gathers the light in its centre and directs the gaze inwards, creating a kind of visual hub.

The interplay creates a moving dialogue between structure and dissolution, between coloured surface and spatial illusion. The cubes seem to lift, shift and form new constellations - an architectural play of colour that poetically explores the boundaries between painting and spatial effect.
