I made this image at blue hour when St Marks Basilica opened its detail and a shallow sheet of water turned the square into a mirror. The facade glowed against the deep sky and the paving lines drew the eye to the center. I waited for a few minutes of stillness so the reflection could hold without breaking into noise.
I worked with a tripod and a slow shutter to calm the surface and keep the architecture crisp. Look for tiny ripples near the foreground that give the reflection a living edge, and for the warm lamps that set a gentle rhythm across the frame. Color is natural and measured so the piece sits easily in modern interiors.
The mood I wanted is serene and present. For me this photograph is about meeting a famous place at a quiet hour and letting light and water speak for the square.
