St. Bartholomä, formerly St. Bartholomeus, is a pilgrimage chapel on the west bank of the Konigssee on the peninsula of Hirschau. The very small settlement on the peninsula is a district of the municipality of Schönau am Königssee. The peninsula is only accessible by boat; On foot it is only accessible by long, partly high alpine paths. The chapel dates back to the 12th century. Since the 17th century it has been designed in the Baroque style. St. Bartholomew was regarded as the patron of the Almbauer and Sennerinnen. The chapel has two different ontowers and red domed roofs. The ground plan resembles the shape of the Salzburg Cathedral. The church contains stuccoes of the Salzburg artist Josef Schmidt and a trinity choir, the altars in the individual conches are dedicated to St. Bartholomew, St. Katharina and St. Jacobus (Source Wikipedia)
