About the artwork
The photo: "Square with shades of brown: The little umbrella catches the drops" is a macro photo taken of a single fluff of a Tragopogon. A Tragopogon is also called Morgenster in the Netherlands and can be found in abundance in the Netherlands in the month of June. This plant is very similar to the common Dandelion, when the flower has finished flowering it turns into a beautiful ball of fluff. One difference between a Dandelion and a Morning Star is the structure of the fluff.
Hanging from this fluff, which has a kind of cobweb-like structure, are lots of very small water droplets. With the naked eye, many of these droplets were barely visible. But by using a very good macro lens, these droplets can be captured beautifully.
When taking this photo, I opted for a fairly shallow depth-of-field. This means that only a small area is razor-sharp and the sharpness in front of and behind this area gradually decreases. I chose this to create a sense of depth in the work e this also gives calmness to the photo.
This photo could hang beautifully as a decoration in the bedroom, dining room or living room, for example! Nice for example as a new changing canvas in an ArtFrame!
