The light in the polar regions of our earth is something special. It has a softness and purity that you see nowhere else in the world. This picture was taken around midnight in the north of the Barents Sea just below the island of Kvitøya and the arctic latitude (80 degrees north) . The island was only discovered in the 18th century, and consists only of an ice cap which is usually shrouded in a dome of mist and mist. Some floating ice lies motionless in this arctic sea, where the weather can just as well be very rough. Not this night, it is windless and a serene peace and quiet emanates from this overwhelming polar landscape.
