One of the many guises of the Drenkelingenhuisje on the beach of the Wadden Island of Terschelling. Here the cottage can be seen from the beautiful wild dunes behind it. It was stormy that day, the weather conditions changing rapidly. Dark clouds, sun, then rain again. The sunlight played on the marram grass that day, which turned a beautiful golden yellow in the wind. All this is exactly what makes this place so beautiful and special. In my opinion, the Dutch beach at its best. It hasn't always been that way for everyone. The Drenkelingenhuisje reminds of the time when sailors who were shipwrecked off the coast of Terschelling could seek refuge in this house. They could then raise the signal ball, a sign for the inhabitants of Terschelling that people had to be rescued. Nowadays it has lost that function, although it is still a great shelter on an otherwise deserted North Sea beach far from civilization.
