I took this photo in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. For work I was allowed to go this way and in advance I had marked a number of locations to photograph including on this stretch of a metro line that runs through the city. I knew it was an unmanned line so you could shoot beautiful abstract photos if you were at the very front or back of the train. No sooner said than done, with tripod and camera at the ready I managed to get the "best" seat and the shooting could begin.
This metro line was above ground which meant that there was a lot of light coming in. So my aperture had to be "squeezed" quite a bit and my iso set to its lowest setting to get my shutter speed slow enough to get enough movement in my photo. After all this was in order, it was waiting for the right moment to use my remote control to operate my camera's shutter. The best spot would be on a curve with fencing as shown here. Because of the interplay of lines, as a viewer you are sucked into the photo, so to speak.
But just pressing the button in the Metro is not enough. Because at home, I process 99% of my photos because I have access to a large screen, a fast desktop and a Wacom drawing tablet to quietly edit my photos so that they are suitable to hang on your wall. For this photo, I chose black and white which, in my opinion, makes the photo more powerful.
