Small bird of prey. Essentially light underneath, grey above with broadly banded tail. Always banded on underside (including young sparrows). Rather short, broad wings and long tail with sharp corners. Head does not project far. Long and thin yellow legs and toes. Characteristic flight: a few quick flaps of the wings and then glides.…
