Special in Norway is to experience the long evening light in the spring and summer. I took this photo at the beginning of June around ten o'clock in the evening. In my home country, the Netherlands, that is a moment when it is already fairly dark, the sun has set. At Lake Lovatnet, near Loen, the sun did not set until around a quarter past 11 in the evening. At the time of the photo there was also a very nice, soft light on the slopes of the setting sun. It was very serene and quiet and all you could really hear was the constant murmur of the falls.
We have experienced Lovatnet as a wonderfully quiet place. There is only little traffic along the lake and in the evening there is maybe a single car. It was really quiet at the time of the photo. What remains is a beautiful and serene lake with mirror-smooth water, surrounded by green mountains with snow-capped peaks and a view of a glacier of the Jostedalsbreen National Park. Truly a place to enjoy all the natural beauty and to relax.
The photo was created by merging several photos into a panorama. This also made it easier to get more of the high mountain slopes with that beautiful ligh into the picture.
