Soft, colourful tenderness: Smoke enveloped by the petals of a tulip

by Marjolijn van den Berg

The simplicity of this piece creates an almost abstract work. Yet you can still recognise what it is. The beautiful texture of the petals contributes to this. If you zoom in on the photo, you can see just how rich in detail it is! Tulips are one of my favourite flowers. This tulip comes from North Holland, where I picked it in a pick-your-own garden. Smoke is also one of the elements I like to play with and experiment with in my photo's. This often adds a lovely contrast or, conversely, a softening effect to a photo.
Thanks to the lovely warm colours and the abstract nature of this photo, which creates a sense of calm, this piece would look stunning in many different interior styles! For example, this piece would look brilliant as wall art in the dining room, kitchen, bedroom or simply above the sofa! (It would also look lovely in business settings, such as on the wall in a meeting room, office, waiting room or practice!) ©Marjolijn van den Berg
