About ‘Snow at Fukakusa - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)’
Yamashiro, Snow at Fukakusa, Ono no Komachi and Shii no Shosho, Beautiful scene of the infatuated young Shii no Shosho, waiting at the window of the famous poet Ono no Komachi. He promised to travel from Kyoto to Fukakusa every night for a hundred nights, through rain and snow. Unfortunately, he died on the last night before he could meet the young beauty. Here he stands quietly in the snow while the poet looks out her window at him. The inset above, shows his umbrella during a rainstorm with lightning. A great image from this tragic love story in beautiful colors.
