A digitally produced painting, based on my own photograph, showing a snow scene in Umbria in Central Italy. Snowfall like this is rare these days but in years past the snow has fallen quite heavily. In the past we have been snowed in for several weeks. But in recent years, with global warming, snow fall with us is rare and quite light, rarely remaining on the ground for long.
The year I took the photograph it snowed in December for Christmas and then snowed again really heavily in January. That is why I called this image Snow Scene and Still Snowing. This is a steep driveway, with a rickety wooden fence, that goes up through woodland, past a large conifer tree. The distance is hazy owing to falling snow. The bare branches in the foreground actually belong to a fig three that becomes skeletal over winter and then bursts into leaf in late spring. To look at it now, you would not believe that it is covered in figs in late July and August.
Born in the South of England I now live half way up a mountain in Umbria, Italy. I work from my art studio looking out over fabulous views of the Italian countryside. I am so happy to share my artwork with you.
