Skaftafell, part of the immense Vatnajökull National Park, is an area where glaciers, mountains and green valleys converge. The park is known for its spectacular hiking trails, which lead past waterfalls, glacier edges and lava fields. Due to the unique combination of climates and landscapes, plant species that are hardly found elsewhere in Iceland grow here.
