About ‘Sint-Gertrudis-Pede watermill’ by vw-photography

Sint-Gertrudis-Pede watermill.

Already in 1392 the watermill of Saint-Gertrudis-Pede was mentioned in an act: "Sweder of Abcoude, Lord of Gaasbeek, bought from Arnoul, son of Gielelmus of Pede, a hill with dwellings on top and with a watermill at the foot".
According to some sources, Pieter Bruegel the Elder depicted the watermill more than 400 years ago, e.g. in the paintings "The return of the herd" and "The magpie on the gallows". In 1800 there were about 3.000 watermills and as many windmills working in our country. There was one mill for every 500 to 1,000 inhabitants. Later, the steam engine became the main source of energy. In 1935, after electrification, wind and water mills were almost finished for the mill.
In 1989, the Watermolen van Pede was purchased by the municipality of Dilbeek. After a very thorough restoration, the mill has been milling again since 2002, making it one of the few milling mills in the Pajottenland! Also unique is the dog wheel where the dog churned butter by turning the dog mill. Groups can visit the watermill on request. There is a maximum of 25 persons per group. A visit to the mill includes a grinding demonstration with technical explanations from the miller and a guided tour of the whole building.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
