About "Silenced Voices: A Picture of Global Femicide"

About the artwork

This image manipulation serves as a powerful and poignant representation of the global crisis of femicide, a term used to describe murders of women because of their gender. The image highlights the tragic reality that many of these murders take place in the domestic circle, often by their own partners.

The artwork shows a woman slowly disappearing into a wall, a metaphor for the invisibility and obliteration of women's lives through domestic violence and femicide. Her face and hands are just visible, clinging to the surface, but the rest of her body has already partially dissolved into the wall, symbolising how these women disappear from society's view.

The inspiration for this concept came from the brutal murder of Pınar Gültekin in Turkey and Poland's disturbing attempts to legalise domestic violence. These events underline the need to pay attention to and fight against femicide and domestic violence.

This image manipulation calls for awareness and action against the global issue of femicide and domestic violence. It reminds us that these crimes should not be ignored and that the victims deserve a voice and recognition. The work invites viewers to reflect on their role in making these issues visible and supporting victims.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
