In the shade of a covered souk, a bicycle rests, carelessly abandoned against a wall that has been collecting stories for generations. Light seeps through the openings in the roof and hits the stone surface in jagged patterns.
This place exudes the atmosphere of Marrakech: the bustle of the souks, the smells of spices, the echoes of voices mixing with the light and shade. And yet this image is hushed, as if holding its breath between the rush of everyday life.
Perhaps the owner of the bicycle has just stepped inside to buy a piece of fabric, perhaps he is resting somewhere with a glass of sweet mint tea in hand. This image remains open, with no answer, allowing the viewer to complete the story themselves.
The atmosphere is nostalgic and cinematic, a moment of calm in a city that is always moving. This work brings a sense of stillness to a space, a reminder of discovering places that only reveal their secrets when you stop for a moment.
Each photograph is a doorway to another world.
Maybe a world you recognise, maybe one you only discover as soon as you look at it.
