Impressive cliffs meet blue water on the Mediterranean coast. The Sierra Helada Nature Park is a landmark of the Costa Blanca in Spain. This photo is dedicated to the northern part of the mountain range, with a view over the green mountain slopes to a rock formation that juts out into the sea. There is a lighthouse on the hill. Hiking over the ridge of the Sierra Helada offers a fantastic view of the Mediterranean and the coastal landscape. The Peñón de Ifach in Calpe can be seen on the horizon.
The side of the Sierra Helada facing the sea impresses with its rugged cliffs, while the slopes facing away from the sea appear rather gentle. A particularly beautiful place is the white lighthouse called Faro de l'Albir, which appears very picturesque in the vast coastal landscape.
Incidentally, the name Sierra Helada means icy or frosty mountain. This probably refers less to the Mediterranean temperatures and more to the misty light moods on the coast and the bright colours of the cliffs, which give the Sierra Helada mountains (seen from a distance) a frosty appearance on some days.
