The picture shows a close-up of the shrub rose Crystal Mella. The focus is on the fine structure of the white petals, which wrap around the centre in soft waves. There, bright yellow stamens contrast with a pale green ovary - a natural centrepiece that draws attention without being obtrusive.
The idea for this picture arose from the desire to document the quiet presence of this rose variety. I was fascinated by the way light and shadow play on the slightly translucent leaves, creating an almost sculptural effect. I was not interested in an idealised depiction, but in an honest snapshot - reduced, clear and calm.
The atmosphere I want to create with this work is restrained and contemplative. It invites you to pause and notice the fine details that are often overlooked in everyday life.
In interior design, this picture acts as a visual haven of peace. It is particularly effective in bright, natural rooms - as a discreet but effective accent that harmonises naturalness and structure.
