Shopping like in Milan... you can only dream of that when you are on holiday on the Greek island of Lesbos. In Mytilini, the capital of the island you will find the 'most' shops. Although you can't say that there are many. In the 'biggest' shopping street you will find at most a few boutiques. You cannot expect a Louis Vuitton, H&M or similar stores. I have tried to capture this remarkable shopping street by means of one building... a newspaper and bookshop. The shattered windows and doors, the paint peeling off the walls, the cables criss-cross and the high stacks of books and newspapers inside. Far from clear, but this is traditional Greece. Greece is often associated with the beautiful white houses with blue roofs. This is certainly the case... in the tourist areas such as Santorini, Crete and Rhodes. But in the 'real' Greece you will hardly come across this and you will encounter more old houses and shops. But this certainly has just as many charms.
